We have provided a list of frequently asked questions to help you prepare for your upcoming visit to find your dress!

We carry a very large collection of special order designers gowns in all different designers, styles, colors, sizes, and price points. We have over 2000 regular sized bridal gowns and over 300 plus size bridal gowns! We also offer bridesmaids, mothers, and accessories so you can make Seng Couture a one-stop-shop for your entire Bride Tribe! Also if you purchase a wedding gown that's over $1000, your gown will also qualify for Complimentary Alterations, including a free basic hem, free basic seam alterations, free bustle, free steaming and free garment bag. Plus there's no sales tax on wedding gowns in NJ too!
Do you have Plus Size gowns?
Yes, we do! For our brides who are looking to shop our Plus Size Bridal selection, we have an entire salon of over 300 styles ranging from sizes 16-28 dedicated just to you! You can sift through our selection of samples we have in-store here (look for the styles with a green "In Stock" thumbnail). We also have Plus Size mothers and bridesmaids to try on as well!
Where are you located?
We are located at 218B and 226 South Avenue, Fanwood, NJ in Central New Jersey. We're approximately 1 hour away from New York City, NY and 1.5 hours from Philadelphia, PA.
How do I make an appointment to try on dresses at Seng Couture?
How far in advance should I make an appointment?
We recommend booking your appointment 2-3 weeks in advance to your desired date. Weekends and trunk show event dates book up fast, so be sure to contact us soon!
What if I don't see a date and time that works for me?
Call or text us at 908-322-8700 and let us know when you'd like to come in. We'd be happy to check availability for you.
What should I bring to my dress appointment?
If you have any particular undergarments, accessories, or shoes you would like to try on with the gowns, please bring them for your appointment!
How can I pre-select my 5 choices to start my appointment?
For brides, please visit our Bridal Gown page to view all the dresses we have in-store as a sample (look for the styles with a green "In Stock" thumbnail). Once you have your 5 favorites, send them to us by texting to 908-322-8700 or drop us a message on our webchat red icon at the bottom right corner of the page.
How many people can I bring to my appointment?
Due to social distancing and in adherence to CDC guidelines, we have limited the number of guests as follows:
- All Bridal, Evening, and Accessories Looking appointments can bring up to 2 guests with them.
- For Bridesmaids Looking appointments, each group can bring up to 3 bridesmaids to try on at a time plus the bride.
- Fitting and Alteration appointments can bring up to 1 guest with them.
- Unfortunately at this time, we cannot allow any children under the age of 12. Please see below for specifics.
I love your bridal gowns, but I'm part of a high-risk group or don't feel comfortable shopping in-store. How can I still try on dresses and purchase from Seng Couture?
Absolutely! Just because you can't come to us doesn't mean we can't come to you! You can partake in our Virtual Bridal Experience, where you can pick up to 5 dresses from our inventory to try on in the convenience of your own home. Browse through our Bridal Gowns and Plus Size Bridal Gowns, and email or text us your top 5. We'll confirm availability for you and you can either pick up the gowns curbside or we can ship the dresses to you at a cost. Click here for more details on cost and procedures.
Please note due to COVID-19, we recommend adding an extra 1-2 months on top of your current timeframe.
We recommend purchasing your bridesmaid gown(s) 5-6 months before your event date. Bridesmaid gowns can take anywhere between 2-4 months to come in and you will need to consider a few months for alterations too. In the event you need a gown in a tighter timeframe, we will do what we can to accommodate you. We also have options for rush orders or you may be able to purchase a sample gown.
Please note for bridesmaid gowns, orders are submitted as a group to avoid dye lot variance as much as possible. Bridesmaids can place their orders in-store or online until the group order is accumulated.
I want to customize my bridal gown. Can the designer or Seng Couture create my vision?
Definitely! Some of our bridal designers offer to customize their gowns to create your own original look. If the designer is not able to customize a certain part of the gown, our Design Team led by our in-house designer Ms. Seng can. We'll review fabrics, fit, support, and quality to ensure the look you want to achieve is comfortable, supportive, and unique.
One of our favorite things we love doing at Seng Couture is being able to create original looks for our clients and we're always excited to take on new projects and ideas to make our bride's visions a reality.
If you're interested in customizing your own look, let us know and your stylist and our Design Team will be happy to work together with you!
We also offer to customize evening gowns for mothers. Ms. Seng also designs and creates an in-house private collection "Illiana" customized just for our store to provide classic, modern, slenderizing looks with luxurious fabrics such as silks, Swarovski-crystals, and unique lace patterns with a superb fit for mothers who want that extra special touch for the big day.
Are alterations included with my bridal/mothers/bridesmaid gown?
For brides, if your gown is over $1000, you'll be receiving Complimentary Basic Alterations, including a free basic hem, free bustle, free basic seam alterations, free steaming, and garment bag.
If your bridal gown is under $1000, your alterations will not be included. This also applies to all styles from our "Gown on Sale" selection. We'd be happy to let you know an approximate quote.
For mothers, if you order an original look from our in-house private collection "Illiana" designed by Ms. Seng, your alterations will be included.
All other mothers gowns alterations are not included. Bridesmaid gown alterations are also not included either.
For accurate quotes, we would suggest booking a fitting appointment with our Alterations Team when your gown arrives so we can access the alterations you need and provide you a more accurate quote.
What is a special order gown?
A special order gown is one that is made just for you. Once you say yes to your dress, we will take your measurements and order you the correct size and color of your choice.
What are the price ranges for your dresses?
Our bridal gowns start at $800 - $4000, with most of them being in $1000-$2500.
Mothers gowns start at $300 - $3000, with most of them being in $300-$1000.
Bridesmaids start at $120 - $350, with most of them being in $120-$220.
How do I pay for my gown?
For bridal gown orders, full payment or an initial deposit of 60% will secure the order and if there is a remaining balance, that will be due within 7 days of the gown's arrival. For bridal gowns purchased off the rack, bridal accessories, mothers, and bridesmaids are required to be paid in full. Off the rack and any items purchased and taken home the same day must be paid for in cash or by credit card. Special orders can be paid in cash, credit card, or check. Rush orders and remaining balances must be paid by cash or credit card, checks will not be accepted. We take all major credit cards except for American Express.
Can I cancel, return, or exchange my dress?
Please note all sales are final. There are no refunds, cancellations, exchanges, or store credits. You are responsible for the remaining balance of your order and picking it up too.
Can I order a dress from you even if you don't have a sample in-store?
Yes! As long as we carry the designer and/or collection, you can definitely still order your dress through Seng Couture. Please contact us and let us know the designer, collection, and style you're interested in.
Do you offer discounts?
We don't offer discounts for any of our gowns (bridal, mothers and bridesmaids) because we are Price Guaranteed on all of our dresses and our gowns are sold at the lowest price around. Other retailers often raise their prices and offer a "discount", when after applying the discount it comes back down to the same price as ours. Here at Seng Couture, you see it as it is, and we are happy to help you find the perfect dress to fit your style, color, and investment range during your appointment!
Will I be notified when my gown arrives?
Yes, we will be sending you a notification via text, email, and/or call when your gown arrives.
How can I check the status of my order?
A: You are welcome to contact us anytime and we'd be happy to check your order status.
When should I start my fittings for alterations?
For brides and mothers gowns, we recommend starting your first fitting 8-10 weeks before your event date. For bridesmaids, we recommend starting your first fitting 6-8 weeks beforehand. If your outfit requires extensive additions or modifications that are being added to your gown by our Alteration Team such as build-ups, additional beadwork, removal of fabric layers, etc. we recommend coming in 12-14 weeks before your event date.
How do I book my appointment for my fittings?
You can book your appointment online with our Alterations Team here. Our online booking site is available 24/7 to book your fitting appointments with members from our Alterations Team anytime.
What do I need to bring for my fitting for alterations?
Please bring your shoes, and any undergarments or accessories you plan to wear with your gown (example: bra, control top/Spanx, poof slip, belt, etc.). Also please don't forget to bring your order agreements and any necessary paperwork from your previous visit(s).
What if I have a shorter timeline than what is recommended? Can you still complete my alterations?
Absolutely! Our Alteration Team is dedicated to having your dress ready for your event date. Please let us know when your event date is or the day that you are leaving for the event so we can coordinate fitting dates with you.
My dress is in, but I'm part of a high-risk group or don't feel comfortable doing a fitting in-store. How can I still get my dress fitted by Seng Couture?
You definitely can! You can request to do a Virtual Fitting, where members of our Alterations Team will meet with you virtually to either obtain your measurements or if you have your gown, measure, and identify which parts of the gown need to be altered. Do you offer alteration services for outfits not bought from Seng Couture?
Yes, we do offer alteration services for outfits not bought at our shop. We will do what we can to accommodate as best as possible. Please contact us to confirm availability with our Alterations Team, as we may not be able to accommodate certain requests depending on how busy we are.
Do you currently offer curbside pickups and will you continue to so after reopening?
Yes! We are currently offering curbside pickups Monday thru Saturday 10 am - 4 pm. When we reopen on June 15th, 2020 we will continue to offer curbside pickups Monday thru Friday 10 am - 8 pm during our temporarily extended hours.
What if my event date has been postponed, or canceled with a new date being determined?
If your event date has been postponed or canceled with a new date still being determined, please let us know by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org, subject "WEDDING DATE CHANGE".
If your event date has been postponed beyond three months from the date you notify us or canceled with a new date still being determined, we are asking clients to pick up their gowns and bring them back for their alterations in the future. We do apologize in advance as we are unable to hold those gowns in storage beyond that period of time. We are happy to help you arrange a pickup date and reschedule a future alteration date so we can ensure you have enough time for your upcoming fittings. All balances must be completed, if they have not been already, before picking up your garment. You can schedule a curbside pickup or in-store pickup once we reopen June 15, 2020, online anytime.
I don't live close to the store, can I have someone pick up the dress for me or can you ship it to me?
You can have another individual pick up the gown for you. The payee will need to send an email to us, subject "PICKUP REQUEST", to authorize the other person to pick up their gown on their behalf. If the payee is not the wearer of the order, then please be sure to CC or carbon-copy the wearer in the same email. We will respond back to confirm the pickup. You also need to provide the pickup contact's legal first and last name, phone number, and email. I.D. will be checked upon arrival for verification.
If they are picking it up curbside for you, a curbside pickup slip will be sent to both you and the pickup contact 24 hours before the pickup date.
You can also have your dress shipped to your location for a fee. The payee will need to send an email to us, subject "SHIPPING REQUEST" to provide the address to ship. If the payee is not the wearer of the order, please be sure to CC or carbon-copy the wearer in the same email. We will respond back to provide shipping quotes.
